We've been having a lot of fun playin' around this year so keeping with that sensibility we decided to incorporate some childhood memories into a grown up arena…well, kinda. Seemed like the obvious direction to go with that particular set up.

It's all about the lifestyle over here! Art facilitates lifestyle. We love the remix and we know so do you! So we're gonna take something familiar, Nerf, and spin it.

Petra Gallerie has invited a group of development artists ranging from video games, animation and collectible toys to fashion and design to partake in this very tongue in cheek nod to a brand that influenced most of our personal journeys.

"The latest round of designers working for the Nerf brand are doing some kick ass shit! Petra Gallerie messed around with Nerf modification during our Halloween 2011 show, 'Spaceport' , and we're hooked!!", says Snakebite Cortez, Director of Petra Gallerie / SORO Social Club;"That's why we're doing it again. I'm stoked to see what these cats bust out for the show!"

Between now and March 26th, Petra and the S.S.C. are taking submissions from the public: "There's a pretty cool sub-culture of Nerf Modifiers. We got a lot of our reference and inspiration initially from them." Cortez adds, "Petra would like to extend an opportunity for more people to be seen in a sweet spot like our gallery."

Covering the spectrum of positions an artist can choose, Karen understands her connections to all things through her unparalleled history and education.

"Those that are truly capable with their craft play both roles of student and teacher," Says Snakebite Cortez, Petra Gallerie Director "and I see that Karen facilitates both positions with ease. I'm happy we can associate our home with such a talent. You could base a whole grad course curriculum around what she knows and has done. It's validating to roll with her... Plus, she illustrates strong, sexy ass ladies, and I'm totally down with that!"

Karen Locke will be showcasing multiple themes of her art. "Angels are Abound" features her connection to the spirit world. With large original paintings available with limited edition reproductions and art books. "The Ponderings" is a whimsical look at the duality of femininity. Original illustrations with limited edition prints available.

"Please, Wake Me for Duty Free" is a very limited edition print run of a small portion of Axel's incredibly vast sketchbook pages from countless editions, recording his creative journey thus far.
