SAMEERAH was born to make you beautiful.
From her birth in Chicago, IL, to her upbringing in Los Angeles, to her professional pilgrimage to Europe and back, she has been surrounded by Art and steeped in creativity. With two designers for parents and an artist for a brother, she was destined to live a creative existence. She got her start as a Makeup Artist, and for 13 years developed unique and eye-catching looks for print, runway, film and TV, working for such A-list companies as Clinique, Shiseido, Christian Dior, Borghese and MAC.
Not content to see her work washed away at the end of the day, she set out in search of a more permanent medium. Drawn to the unique beauty of custom designs and the commitment required to get one, she found her calling in the world of Tattoos.
She threw herself into her new obsession, drawing endlessly and paying her dues in a tiny shop near L.A.'s gritty downtown. There she learned the basics of the tattoo machine and how to build them, how to maintain them, how to clean tubes ... and like any dedicated apprentice, she mopped a LOT of floors.
She moved on to Zulu Tattoo, where she finished her apprenticeship and stayed on for almost three years before taking the next logical step with the opening of her own shop, Wild Child Tattoo. After a year in the dual roles of business owner and artist, her wanderlust got the better of her, and she followed its siren song all the way to Amsterdam. In Holland, she worked at LAB 360 for a few months before settling in at House of Tattoos for a year-and-a-half-long residency. By then she was homesick, so Amsterdam's loss was L.A.'s gain as she made her way back across the ocean to set up shop in her new home, MORDIDA DE CULEBRA at Petra Gallerie Social Club.
